Inside the Sales Cabin

The Sales Cabin at Jugtown, built in 1921 has always been a retail pottery and American craft shop. All of our pottery is made here at Jugtown Pottery by Vernon Owens, Pam Owens, and Travis Owens. The nationally exhibited pottery is an evolving line of wares beginning with NC traditional shapes that continue to grow and change to meet the needs of the 21st century. The jars, vases and bowls have evolved from classic pottery forms made throughout history. Kitchen wares in greens, blues and earth tones along with warm wood fired salt glazed pitchers and jugs are made at Jugtown. Elegant yet earthy vases and bowls glazed in Peach bloom, Copper reds, Lavender and Celadon  are also a Jugtown standard.

JLK Jewelry at Jugtown by silversmith Jennie Lorette Keatts, has become a wonderful addition to the shop. It is created on site in one of the Jugtown workshops. Jennie also works on tea sets and jars with sister Pam Owens to create pieces with sterling or copper lids and handles. Her work is continually expanding.

Over seventy craftsperson's and/or artists are also represented in the Jugtown Sales cabin. Pieces available in the sales cabin include wooden spoons and utensils, pewter wares, candles, jewelry, woven rugs and towels, cards, clocks, and iron work. We work diligently to have an exceptional collection of American made crafts available for purchase.

A museum of the pottery's development is in a log cabin next to the shop. Jugtown is listed in the National Register of Historic Places, but if you think it's only about History you're wrong, Jugtown is where tradition merges with innovation.
